Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsburg, IA

Missionary Alliance Church
Missions is the primary focus of the Christian & Missionary Alliance. We seek to share the love of Jesus in word and action. The C&MA is active in providing food, provisions, and hope to victims of war, famine, and natural disasters. We provide health care in places like Gabon, Africa, where the Bongolo Evangelical Hospital treats more than 30,000 patients annually.

More than 800 dedicated missionaries are sent out by Alliance churches in the United States to build churches and train leadership to carry on the ministry of hope through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that people turn to Christ as they experience Him through acts of compassion and by the clear preaching of God's Word.

Why We Do What We Do

Missionary Alliance Church is a solid supporter for many workers around the world. We believe "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come." Matt. 24:14

What is the Great Commission?

The Great Commission is found in Matthew 28:19-20. After His resurrection and shortly before He ascended to be with His Father, Jesus commissioned His followers to go and make more followers. It is one of the final instructions that we have from our Lord. He said to them, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." That instruction is Christ's Great Commission.

How Does MAC Participate in the Great Commission?

Here at MAC, we take this commission very seriously. Our church, as well as our denomination, has a long history of taking the Good News to a lost world. We pray for workers; we support workers; and we have sent some of our own to be workers. The CMA is currently in 84 different countries, planting churches, training leaders, and discipling new believers in their faith. There are currently 880 workers who serve around the world.

Each year, usually in February, we promote a week long Worker's Conference. Alliance Workers will come and preach, and teach, meet in homes with us, and help us grasp the vision of what God is doing around the world. We believe that it is essential for the local church to be actively involved in the Great Commission.

What is the Great Commission Fund?

Unlike other organizations, The Christian and Missionary Alliance does not require its workers to raise their own support. Instead, workers and their ministries are financed through what we call The Great Commission Fund (GCF). Here at MAC, (along with other C&MA churches), members give to the GCF and then those funds are sent to the national office in Colorado Springs, CO. Those funds are then distributed to C&MA workers around the world to pay their salaries and support their ministries.

Getting Involved in The Great Commission

There are a variety of ways you can be involved in The Great Commission. By praying, giving, sending, and perhaps even going. We have a missions committee that you could serve on. Some among us have participated in short-term missions projects, some have sent their children, and some among us have gone themselves. Seek the Lord and see what God would have you do to fulfill His Great Commission.
