News from the MAC Youth Leaders
Thank you to everyone who came to the MAC Youth banquet and to those who helped make it possible. We had a good turnout and a wonderful time. Some of the students did a skit and others shared about some of the activities we did during the year and what they learned. We also had a slideshow of pictures throughout the year and a picture of the newest member of the Perry family since they could not be present. We ended the evening full of laughter with a couple of dares. Thank you parents and youth for participating. See you next fall! MAC Youth Banquet & Parent's Appreciation Night Wednesday, May 4th, at 6:30 p.m. Parents, come join your junior high students as they share what they have been doing at MAC youth this year. You'll have a chance to meet the MAC youth leaders, do a MAC Youth Dare with your kids, and see a slide show of activities. You'll also have a chance to enjoy a meal served by the youth.
MAC Youth is off to a great start this year. We've been averaging well over 30 junior high kids every Wednesday
night. We start off the evening with some contemporary worship time led by Solid Rock (high school group). Then
we play a game together and have a fun snack. Then we have a Bible lesson, questions, and prayer.
As time allows, we'll play another game or do a crazy "dare". The kids love the "dare" the most. It's a great opportunity for the junior high-aged child in your life to experience God in a fun way, led by volunteers who are committed to nurturing faith in Jesus in a safe environment, every Wednesday night until May! New year, New faces!
New leaders this year are Joy & Aaron Fopma, Sam & Heather Perry, and Mark & Amanda Gehling. The MAC Youth leaders for the coming year would like to welcome all junior high students from 6th through 8th grade to MAC Youth to a great year of growing in your faith and having fun! MAC Youth meets Wednesday nights throughout the school year at MAC at 6:55 p.m. Come join us!
Four MAC Youth students completed the challenge of memorizing a verse a week throughout the past
school year.
Buster Pitcox, Josh Lutter, Elizabeth Lockwood, and Katherine Wood, were awarded with a trip to Adventureland Park in Des Moines in June. Great job kids and keep storing God's Word in your hearts! We have been having a blast in MAC Youth this fall with between thirty and forty 6th, 7th, and 8th graders packed in our MAC Youth Room! We start our evenings off with a time of just hanging out with friends. At 7:00 we play wild and crazy games. At 7:30 we take time to cool off with juice and a dare. Dares are off-the-wall games that the kids can choose to take part in or sit back and laugh at others who do. It is always hilarious and lots of fun. Then we spend the rest of the evening opening up God's Word to see how it applies to our everyday lives.

THANK YOU!! MAC Youth and Solid Rock would like to thank everyone who made our Rummage Sale such a success! Over $1,000 was brought in to help with the costs of trips for our youth. It was amazing to see all of the items that were donated. It was also great to have young people and some of us not so young people all working together and having a great time! A special thank you to the Rapp Family for feeding all of us their awesome pizza from "Cheaper by the Dozen". What a blessing to be a part of such a generous church family and community!
The MAC middle school and high school youth ministries would like to help you with your Spring Cleaning by
collecting any household and clothing items you are no longer in need of. We will be having a Fantastic Rummage
Sale at the Blairsburg Park Shelter on Saturday, May 2nd. We are looking for good used items to sell.
All of the proceeds from the sale will be used for Summer Youth Trips. If you have questions or if you
have "treasures" you would like to donate, please call Shirley Nelson 325-6076 or Tori Woiwood 325-6061.

MAC Youth guys and gals had a great time on our adventure to Custer's Maze in Clear Lake on
Sunday, September 21st. Thirty-six of us piled into vans after church and we headed to Clear
Lake for lunch. After a nutritious meal of fast food, we drove to the maze. Amanda Bosch
and Jennifer Jeffers set a new record for our fastest time getting through the maze at 25 minutes.
The record slowest time was not surprisingly set by Mike Nelson and Don McKee at 1 hour and 10 minutes.
We enjoyed snacks and some fellowship time together before we headed back to the church. Thank you to Randy and Sandra Greufe and Don McKee for helping us with transportation. |
